The following information mainly comes from an article by Alicia McWatters and from Pat Veretto’s website, Your Guide to Frugal Living which contains useful advice on pet herbs.

In addition to apple cider vinegar’s benefits to humans it’s also good for your pets.

No real surprise that the benefits of apple cider vinegar are especially relevant to dogs. That is because apple cider vinegar contains many nutrients that are good for dogs and other pets.

ACV is one of the better herbal remedies for pets because it contains the following nutrients:

* Beta carotene

* Vitamin C

* Vitamin E

* B Vitamins

* Tannins

* Pectin

* Calcium

* Chlorine

* Iron

* Magnesium

* Phosphorous

* Potassium

* Silicon

* Sulfur

As advised on other pages, to obtain the healthful uses for apple cider vinegar, you need to get organic, unfiltered, non-pasteurized, naturally fermented ACV.

You’ll know it’s the ACV that’s desirable by its golden color and the fine sandy sediment at the bottom of the bottle. The commonly used distilled vinegar that is usually bought at the grocery store has none of the healthful substances that natural apple cider vinegar has.

As an overall pet herb, sort of like a health tonic, apple cider vinegar could be added to your dog’s water or food. Give smaller dogs one tsp daily & larger dogs 2 tsps.

Hey, just taking advantage of the uses for apple cider vinegar is not enough.

Remember to supplement your typical dog food with fresh foods including raw meat, bones, vegetables, fruits, whole grains & dairy.

One way to do this is to mix fresh food into the commercial dog food you normally give to your dog. It would be quite easy to slip a little ACV into the mixture.

Still another piece of advice is not to go for some miracle herbal remedies for pets to keep your dog well or to heal your dog. Try to give your dog what nature provides as much as you can. That’s what a dog’s system expects & needs.

And that’s why using apple cider vinegar as a tonic and remedy is so useful. It’s natural & wholesome, containing nutrients in the proper balance.

Also, don’t expect natural methods to health to work as quickly as prescriptives or to undo all of the wrongs done to our pets. Apple cider vinegar may take longer to remedy problems but will do so economically and with no side effects.

One of the benefits of apple cider vinegar is that it’s a useful natural remedy for fleas. Just massage some apple cider vinegar into his coat and rinse him off with water. Drinking a little ACV in water can also help your dog get rid of fleas.

Cats who have fleas can also benefit from drinking a small amount of ACV in water in their food.

Dog owners also report being able to get rid of excess tearing from dogs by using apple cider vinegar. That’s because tearing can be caused by excess acidity in the body. The ACV helps neutralize acidity. Add a bit of apple cider vinegar to the water daily until your dog is taking in at least one tsp of ACV daily.

To get rid of flies that are ever-present to many pet owners especially horse owners not to mention dogs & goats make a fly killer with natural & safe ingredients.

Use equal parts water, apple cider vinegar & Pine Sol and you’ve got an excellent fly spray. Nope, the pine sol is not nearly as dangerous to your pets health as the stuff in the commercial sprays. Your mixture will be cheaper and safer than the chemicals you normally buy at Home Depot.

Feeding you horse a little apple cider vinegar can also help with equine fleas.

Another of the uses for apple cider vinegar has to do with swellings. Just wrap the affected area, or press onto it, a cloth soaked in apple cider vinegar. Place plastic on top of the cloth and a bandage on top of the plastic to hold it in place. Leave this remedy on your pet for 3 - 4 hours, then rinse with water.
