This common oregano is also termed sweet marjoram or knotted marjoram. It's previous scientific classification is “Marjorana hortensis.”

How to prep for full health benefits of oregano
Make a tea out of oregano herb using the leaves and flowers. Simply pour a cup of boiling water over oregano (¼ cup fresh leaves, 2 tsps dried herb, seeds or bark), let steep 5 minutes, strain, enjoy.
You can apply the oregano tea to affected areas or gargle with cooled tea for tonsillitis. If drinking tea, you may want to sweeten and flavor with lemon or another herbal tea.
