Directions on hyssop tea, essential oil, and compress follow.Other pages discuss basic hyssop herb facts and uses of hyssop (links below).
The benefits of hyssop can be extracted from different forms of the plant. Following is a discussion of those forms.
* Hyssop compresses can be used to treat herpes. Use an ounce of dried hyssop per pint of boiling water, steep for 20 minutes then cool. Dip a clean cloth into the infusion and apply to cold sores and genital herpes several times a day.
* Hyssop tea can relieve cough & cold, hemorhoids and varicose veins. Make tea using a tablespoon of dried hyssop per cup of boiling water, steep for 10 minutes then strain. Hyssop tea has a bitter, menthol flavor so add sweetener, lemon or blend with other herbal teas to make it palatable. Drink 2 -3 cups a day.
* Hyssop essential oil is pretty expensive. It is used to help female disorders including relieving monthly water retention.
It’s also good for the breathing passages as it gets rid of mucus and relieves bronchial spasms. Hyssop essential oil is generally good for asthma, bronchitis, colds and flu. Finally, it also helps wounds and skin bruises heal.
Use as directed.
If using other commercial hyssop products, such as tinctures, follow package directions.
