Using natural remedies for insomnia is preferable than using prescription or OTC medication for several reasons.
* Many herbs for insomnia have been shown to be as effective for inducing sleep as prescriptives.
* Herbal sleep remedies have few side effects, including that morning-after drowsiness that is common with prescriptive medication.
* Not only are many natural remedies for insomnia effective but they also boost health in other ways.
* Most sleep remedies can be used by children.
* Most herbs for insomnia are inexpensive, especially the nourishing, soothing teas that cost pennies per cup.

Valerian: One of the natural remedies for insomnia that is also good for anxiety. It is nonaddicting & safe. Drinking a tea made of valerian root should help. Lavender is a lovely smelling herb that has many uses besides being one of the herbal remedies for insomnia. Rub a bit of lavender oil on bed sheets or mix with skin cream & rub onto neck & temples. I like to burn lavender candles. Caution: Some lavender is stimulating, like Spanish lavender so ask seller what kind of lavender it is.
Camomile (Matricaria recutita): Peter Rabbit's mother used this herb for insomnia to put her little bunnies to sleep. You can do the same. Chamomile is a most soothing plant & has been used by mothers of many generations to safely relax young children at night. It is also a well known digestive tonic and teething aid.
