Apple cider vinegar for acne is a common use for ACV. Reason? Safe, effective, cheap. Read on for more.
Apple cider vinegar can be used in two ways to combat acne, internally & externally. That’s one of the benefits of herbal remedies over drugs, you can apply and eat them in most cases.
But it’s not just some herbal stunt. Applying apple cider vinegar to blemishes of acne fights it in one way. Drinking apple cider vinegar for acne fights acne in another way.
Note: When using ACV for acne: whether drinking and/or applying apple cider vinegar to face, for best results, use organic, unfiltered ACV and mix it with filtered water. So, vinegar is unfiltered, water is filtered.
Why drinking apple cider vinegar for acne works
Apple cider vinegar improves how well your liver, kidneys & bladder work. Those organs work in concert with each other to detoxify the body.
This is especially beneficial for acne which may result from the build up of toxins in your. Do not be surprised if initially taking ACV for acne increases blemishes & pimples as toxins are released in greater amounts than normal.
Apple cider vinegar also contains plenty of minerals & vitamins which also help boost your immune system and destroy bacterium.
Drink 2 - 3 tbls of apple cider vinegar daily in whatever way you can. I like ACV in salads & on chicken and fish.
Another way to assure you get enough apple cider vinegar is to have an ACV cocktail. A couple of tsps of ACV in water, with a little honey if you wish to make it easier to drink, should do you a world of good. Drink a few ACV cocktails throughout the day.
Why applying apple cider vinegar to acne works
Apple cider vinegar can also be applied to acne. ACV helps acne by killing the bacteria associated with acne.
Apple cider vinegar also balances the skin's pH level (a measure of acidity).
Finally, it dries the skin by absorbing excess oil from the skin, a leading cause of acne.
You may experience some redness when applying ACV to the skin. If skin gets too red, irritated or dry, cut back on applications and gradually build up again to 3 applications daily.
Don’t use apple cider vinegar full strength. Mix one part ACV to 3 parts water.
Use clean cotton balls to apply and leave on for 10 minutes before rinsing it off.
If the acne is pretty severe, and you can tolerate it, experiment with reducing amount of water, applying more often and/or not rinsing apple cider vinegar off of your face.
