Healthy World Digest, #25, April 2011"Healthy nuggets of information to keep your motor humming."
In this issue: * Herb for rosacea
It's SPRING, Yipee!!! Now make like the buds and flower. * Herb for rosacea The quercetin in capers eases rosacea. That’s because it reduces redness and inflammation. I don't like their taste but many people love them. Visit Healthy World’s other useful pages on rosacea.
* Memory supplements Magnesium and calcium help long & short term memory. They seem to help improve nerve connections which leads to better memory. Oh, and additionally, they normalize blood pressure and strengthens heart functioning. Both magnesium and calcium are super important supplements especially for seniors or active people. For more on improving brain functioning, visit our pages on brain exercises
* Bone loss and canola oil Canola oil helps prevent bone loss and, therefore, osteoporosis. I only cook with canola oil because many other oils are better as additions and enhancers for cooked vegetables, soups and salads. For them, I prefer olive, macadamia or walnut oils. For more on bone loss, visit Healthy World‘s other pages:
* Water contamination issues make it on Dr Oz A Dr. Oz show titled, “Is your water causing you cancer?” initially broadcast on February 15, 2011, explored some of what Healthy Water has dealt with for a few years now. Briefly it went over the problems with tap water being contaminated, especially with chromium-6, lead, arsenic and perchlorate (rocket fuel). In addition, Dr. Oz went into the problems with bottled water, an issue Healthy Water has also dealt with. Yes, it’s bad and as the rest of the world marches towards greater industrialization, water contamination is much more likely to get worse. For Healthy Water‘s helpful pages on these specific issues visit: Hopefully, the issue's being recognized by a nationally recognized doctor will bring needed attention to topic. Frankly, while we might eat right, exercise religiously and take in high quality, healthy natural herbs, and supplements, drinking contaminated water would undo the benefits that living an otherwise healthy lifestyle confers. Makes sense, no?
* Just had a BM, now what? Uh, ok, how best to ask this? After you do the #2, you do wash up either the French way or, like civilized people I know, with moist wipes, right? You don’t honestly wipe with toilet tissue and c’est la vie, right? No way, because you do know that, that doesn’t do the job? That a tissue wipe leaves much behind and spreads germs around? You know that, right? You do, at the very least, use baby wipes, preferably natural and unchlorinated, huh? Just as I thought.
* Herbal teas to the rescue Herbs are great. Following is a list of herbal teas and some of their health benefits. Oolong tea elevates metabolism for fat loss. And, is delicious. Ginger tea decreases migraines by blocking prostaglandins that lead to them. And is delicious. Go for the fresh ginger root and steep in hot water for 10 minutes. One of our favorite herbs, visit our page on the benefits of ginger Ginseng tea increases libido, acts like a mild Viagra for men & women. Ginseng and ginger would be great as a combo. When you’re looking slimmer, feel no headache, it would just take a little ginseng, and, well, who knows? Comments? Ideas? Feedback? I'd love to hear from you. Just reply to Healthy World Digest and tell me what you think. See you next month! Sal Be informed. Be healthy. Be sure to subscribe to Healthy World Digest so you don't miss a single valuable issue.
